Detox Boxes
We believe that due to daily stresses including environmental, physiological, emotional and poor lifestyle choices, we can compromise our bodies ability to function. Many of us experience symptoms that we put down to stress, and do not take a step back and realize that our bodies are “tired”. We have all heard of detoxification, and so often it is misconstrued and not interpreted correctly.
Is a detox for you?
Hopefully, yes! Whatever your goals are - feeling a lot healthier, kick starting a healthier lifestyle, then this is for you.
The idea is to support your body with its natural detoxificaton process and by taking out the potential allergens that cause an inflammatory response and refined foods that do not fuel the cells of our bodies, it will have a much better chance of doing this!
Please note that a juice detox should not be a “quick fix” for weight loss. The juice detox should result in developing better habits from feeling better as a result of the program, which intrinsically will result in weight loss, but weight loss in itself should not be the primary goal.
What is a detox?
Juicing does not detox your body. Your liver and other organs are there to do that and they do a pretty good job of it every single day all things considered. However; give it a break, flood it with nutrients, and let it do its work more easily.
A "Juicing detox" is generally considered to be where you consume only juiced fruits and vegetables for a period of time. It's not a medical term and shouldn't be though of as such. However the effects are awesome and I think you should give it a go!
You should feel a lot better while detoxing as you're eliminating everything that is potentially an allergen. However if its longer than 3 days you may feel headaches, fatigue, irritability from the withdrawal of what you would normally eat and drink.
Choose juices based on not only their flavour, but their beautiful colour. Colour represents different vitamins, minerals, fibre blends, phytonutrients and antioxidants. All of these are essential to cell functions and metabolic support.
When shouldn't I?
Underlying medical conditions including lifestyle diseases should raise a red flag, as these conditions can put you at risk of side effects, especially where an established diet and medication regime is being followed.
The juice detox is in no way meant to replace the advice of a qualified doctor, so if you have any concerns or underlying illnesses, then please consult with them beforehand.
Can I eat anything else?
Of course you can but make it a healthy snack rather than a bowl of chips! However, you most likely will not feel hungry and wont need to eat anything else. Eliminate caffeinated beverages and simple sugar beverages. Fluids should consist of water, and the suggested cold pressed juices. Try to follow the choices of food from the food guide, remember, do not go hungry, eat when you feel hungry, but only the foods that are on the list.
